Hungerford Workhouse and Poor Law Union
The Board of Guardians met alternate Wednesdays at the workhouse, to discuss Union matters.
The Workhouse was erected 1840 by S. O. Foden, architect on an elevated and healthy site in Park Street, and it could accommodate 344 inmates.

Hungerford Union became Hungerford and Ramsbury Union in 1896. It became
Hungerford Hospital under the National Health Service, but the building was
closed and demolished in the late 1990's. The Chapel, however, was saved and
remains standing on the new residential site.
