Alston Union Workhouse
The Guardians meet monthly, on Saturdays, at the Town Hall. The Union comprises
the Parish of Alston with Garrigill and Nenthead chapelry. The area is 36,971
acres, rateable value £18,791 and the population in 1921 was 3,344.
