Holsworthy Poor Law Union and Workhouse

The total average expenditure on the poor, during the 3 years preceding the formation of the Union, was £4173. The expenditure in 1838 was £2903; in 1839, £3321; & in 1849 £3662, including £670 for county rates. Mr George Braund is union clerk & supt.registrar. A workhouse has not yet been erected for this Union, but there is a small Poorhouse in the town.
