Wandsworth Poor Law Union and Workhouse
Wandsworth and Clapham Union was officially declared 10th March 1836, and
consisted of the parishes Battersea, Clapham, Putney, Streatham, Tooting and
Wandsworth
The Parish Workhouse on East Hill was taken over for use by the Board of
Guardians.
The
Union workhouse is at East Hill.

A
new Union Workhouse was erected on St John's Hill, Wandsworth 1838-1840 from
designs by George Ledwell Taylor, architect.
