Hambledon Union Workhouse

Hambledon - The workhouse was by the road to Petworth. The original building of 1786 was enlarged by the Board of Guardians.

The Board of Guardians meet alternate Thursday's at the Workhouse at 12 noon. The population in 1891 19,174, area 64,385 acres and rateable value £108,416. The Clerk to the Guardians and Assessment Committee and Superintendent Registrar in 1899, F. Ferdinand Smallpiece.
